What's needed to use Butterfly?

Butterfly Server is written in Java and Butterfly Designer is written in .NET. Before Butterfly installation, you need to make sure that you have the corresponding runtime installed on your machine. For detail information about this, please go to the Butterfly evaluation download page.

Butterfly Server works on Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Solaris, and Linux operating systems.

Butterfly Designer is written in .NET. It runs on Windows 2003, XP and 2000.

If you want to run Butterfly on some platforms not listed here, please let us know, and we will try our best to help.

Is the evaluation copy different from the "final" version?

No. In fact the evaluation copy of Butterfly is the final version. It is a full-function copy.

When you purchase Butterfly, we will send you a final Butterfly license file based on some information you provide.  You don't need to install a different copy of Butterfly software. Simply by adding the license file to your Hansky License Server, you're all set.

Do I need a license to evaluate Butterfly?

Yes, you need request for an evaluation license to try out Butterfly features.

Typically an evaluation license file includes a server license and 5 named user licenses that will be expired in 15 days.

What's the licensing model of Butterfly

Butterfly has two kinds of licenses:

  1. Butterfly Server License - we sell Butterfly server license as Node-Locked license. You need provide the MAC address of the network card in your Butterfly Server machine.
  2. Butterfly User License - we sell Butterfly user license as Named User license. Similar to Butterfly server license, you need provide the MAC address of your computer that Hansky License Server is running on. Normally it is the same machine where your Butterfly Server runs.

We provide email support for our evaluation users. We try to respond as quickly as we can. Please contact us sales@hansky.com to ask presales questions.
