Is the evaluation copy different from the "final" version?
No. In fact the evaluation copy of Firefly is the final version. It is a full-function copy.
When you purchase Firefly,
we will send you a final Firefly license file based on some information you provide. You don't need to install a different copy of Firefly software. Simply by adding the license file to your Hansky License Server, you're all set.
Do I need a license to evaluate Firefly?
In most cases, you need request for an evaluation license to try out Firefly features.
If you don't have any license installed, you can still use Firefly, however, with the following limitations:
- There is only one built-in user account 'admin'. You can not have more users to use Firefly.
- Only 6 local workspaces can be created.
As you can see, you can use Firefly without a license, but not for a team.
An evaluation license file will remove all those limitations. Typically an evaluation license file includes a server license and 5 named user licenses that will be expired in 14 days.
To request an evaluation license, send us an email at sales@hansky.com.
What's the licensing model of Firefly
Firefly has two kinds of licenses:
- Firefly Server License - we sell Firefly server license as Node-Locked license. You need provide the MAC address of the network card in your Firefly Server machine.
- Firefly User License - we sell Firefly user license as Named User license. Similar to Firefly server license, you need provide the MAC address of your computer that Hansky License Server is running on. Normally it is the same machine where your Firefly Server runs.
